------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Yellowstone The 2:00 fishing restrictions have been lifted from Gardiner to the Stillwater! We do have a little mud right now, but several boats are still floating through town today. Looks like the Lamar was clear 8/21 (and fished awesome) so we should have clear water on the way. Even with the mud, it would be a good option over the upper Madison. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Madison The last few days have been brutal on the upper Madison... too many people, too few strikes. Guides have been shaking their heads at the pull outs, comparing notes and saying what the heck was that about! I think the bottom line this week was that the Yellowstone was muddy, hence everyone headed to the Upper Madison. The Lower has seen some action lately, but also lots of weeds. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yellowstone National Park The Lamar Valley has been fishing well despite the recent thunderstorms. The Lamar and Soda Butte have spiked up and are looking muddy, but should clear up by 8/8 (Wednesday). If you want to fish after 2:00 try looking at Hellroaring Creek, the Yellowstone above 7 mile Hole, Pebble Creek, or the Lamar above Cache Creek... ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Local Hot Spots Unfortunately places like these can't take a ton of fishing pressure, so we don't want everyone reading about them on line. For these places, perhaps it is best to come see us in person. We can get you a hand drawn map (so long as you agree to burn it) and the flies that are working there. Obviously, some places we all have to take to our graves! |
