Burn's Lake | Sitz | Buckingham Lake | ??? | Slip-N-Slide
Staring in September, you want to book at least one of your days on a lake. The weeds are gone, the water is cooler, and the fish are back cruising the shallows instead of hanging out in the deeper water. You can still get some callibaetis hatches and damsels this time of year, but it seems like a lake streamer is the way to go. The browns will begin to false spawn (usually in a shallow flat somewhere near the shore) and behave much like natural spawning browns. Yup, that's right - drop a streamer near a male brown and he's going to eat it - if not for food, for the purpose of getting every trout in the lake to stay away from his territory.

Depeding on what you want to catch, we can point you in the direction towards Big Brookies, Cutbows (shown above), Browns, (shown below), Rainbows, Cutthroat, Grayling, and even Bass, Walleye, or Pike.

Burn's Lake is fishing Excellent! It actually really is... Folks have been ripping some lips out there! For the dry fly guy, try a Callibaetis. They'll be taking nymphs, duns, and spent spinners so be sure to bring flies for every stage of the hatch. The fish stocking was well managed so you're not always catching a cookie cutter fish. Mr. Burn's has put in thousands of Rainbows, Cutthroats, Brookies.

Buckingham Lake is an amazing place with Big Sky scenery and Big Fish. It really is a beautiful place. Since the lease has changed hands, the rod fee has gone down this year to $75 a rod! The Callibaetis and Damsel hatches get thick up there - so it's no wonder the fish do too. The current leaser is trying to thin down 2000 Brookies as well and have already harvested 500 this spring.

A treat in deed. Back in the day, this incredible fishery was stocked by fish and game. Today we're catching those same Browns, Cutthroat, & Rainbows. Now those fish range in size from 25 to 29 inches. Plus a heavy load of 20 to 22 inch fish, and plenty small frys for the future of the lake. Exclusive Booking only, guide required.
