The Yellowstone The Stone has been fishing well the last few days.  Steady action in the valley, and a few big fish being caught down low.  If you love fishing dries on the Stone, the next to weeks are your best chance to catch big fish on hoppers.  The fish are starting to eat big streamers as well now.  White seams to be doing the trick as well as sculpin patterns.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Madison The upper Madison has been improving due to less fishing pressure.  Rubberlegs, Fat Alberts, Double Bunnies, and small bead heads have been working well.  On the Lower, a Bow River Bugger has been rocking some big fish.  The Lower (like the Bighorn) still has a lot of weeds right now.  The good news is that the 2:00 fishing closure has now been lifted!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Spring Creeks   Nelson's, Armstrong's, and DePuy's have all been fishing well this week.  The PMD's are still going strong through the middle of the day.  Before 10:00am try fishing with midges and midge larva.  White to light olive has been the best color for midge larva.  If it is bright, try a small hopper, cricket, or beetle.  If the clouds roll in, don't feel ashamed to grab for your streamer box...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yellowstone National Park The Lamar has been on fire this week!  Hopper have been working on bright days, but the real fun as been fishing big Grey Drake dries!  Soda Butte has been awesome too- but you'll want to show up early as a lot of people tend to fish it close to the road.  The Gardiner has also been fishing well - certainly not too early for streamers...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Local and Private Lakes   Looking for a slam dunk? The private lakes in the area have been unbelievable! The callibaetis hatches are still around, but the damsels and buggers have been working the best.  Leeches and scuds have been catching fish as well as a few big lake midge larva patterns. Give us a call to find out where to go

The Bighorn  There are still a lot of weeds on the Horn right now.  Don't let them scare you away though, as we've had some awesome caddis dry fly fishing over there lately.  On overcast days you may see some big PMD's (size #16).  Fish were all over these near the Grey Cliffs.  If you want to get away from the crowds, try floating 13 to Mallards...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Missouri  The cooler weather has certainly helped to get fish in the feeding mood.  Fish are focusing on pseudos, scuds, and worms.  Go small when choosing (or buying) flies this week.  Once the Fall arrives, we'll be throwing streamers between the lakes and Baetis below Holter.  We expect the baetis hatch to be just as epic as last year.  The fishing should shape up nicely soon, so stayed tuned...

Local Hot Spots   Unfortunately places like these can't take a ton of fishing pressure, so we don't post these on line for everyone to see.  For these places, perhaps it is best to come see us in person.  We'll give you a hand drawn map (so long as you agree to burn it) and the flies that are working there. Obviously, some places we all have to take to our graves!
