Spring Simms Wader trade in Promotion- If you were thinking of getting some new waders this year here is a great deal but you have to act now since this special promtion will only run through May 31st.

Simms is offering a $50 rebate when you trade in your old waders for recycling if you buy a pair of G4 Pro, G4Z, our our extremely popular G3 Guide Waders. On the Simms Headwaters waders (Men's or Women's) you can get a $25 rebate.  Your old waders can be from any manufacturer as long as they are a breathable wader.   You can either bring your waders into the shop or simply mail them along with your voucher to us here at the Yellowstone Angler.

First, To participate you must register at Simms’ website :

http://www.simmsfishing.com/site/recycled_wader_program.html

Next, print out the voucher delivered to your email address, and bring it in to us or send it with with your old waders, and we will deduct your rebate from the price of your new Simms Gore-tex waders.  If you have any question on size you can take a look at the size chart on the Simms site or just give us a call and we can

figure this out quickly for you.

We think that the Simms Gore-Tex waders fit and perform better than any of the other waders we've seen on the market.  These are made right here in Bozeman Montana at the Simms factory, and their build quality is unsurpassed.   So here is a chance to save a little money and have a great pair of reliable, new waders for the upcoming season!

Snowpack /runoff update:

With Snowpack around 70% of average  for the Yellowstone  River, and Madison River basins, we are expecting a shorter runoff compared to the past 2 years.  What does this mean for summertime fishing on our local  rivers?   It is looking like both rivers should be in good shape by late June and Early July, and Salmonflies on both rivers during that time should make for some epic fishing.  Also during early July, PMD, Green Drake, and Caddis hatches on Slough Creek and the Lamar  River should make for some great fishing in the Northeast corner of Yellowstone Park.  So, don’t be tentative on planning your trip to Yellowstone country  earlier this year, we expect to be fishing our local  rivers considerably earlier  than  the past two years where we have  had a larger than average snowpack.

Early season fishing update:

The Mother’s Day Caddis Hatch is a few short weeks away, and we are looking forward to the “Mother of all Caddis Hatches”.   As soon as the river hits 50 degrees for a few days, we’ll start to see a few, and then a few days after that the caddis really start to pour off making for some incredible  dry fly fishing.  As with any hatch, timing is critical and weather always plays into consideration when trying to hit it right.  Typically they start in late April and build to a blizzard by the time runoff takes over in mid May.  So anytime from the last week of April to May 15th is prime time to hit the hatch.  If the river does get too muddy for it to be productive,  there are a number  of good back up plans, so don’t let the thought  of fishing in dirty water  scare you off from spending some time up here.  We often have  incredible dry fly fishing with just a foot of visibility.  Give us a call for details and updates.

Spring creek openings going fast...

We still have many prime openings for local Spring creeks in Mid June throughout the summer.  We have dates on Armstrong, Depuys, Nelson’s, and McCoy’s.  They are going fast, if you want  to fish them during prime PMD hatches, the time to book your trip is now before the openings are gone!

Hot Stillwater  action  in May and June!

We have access to great private lakes like, Burn’s, Story, Sitz and a few others that will remain nameless, and these lakes typically fish lights out in May and June.  Good hatches of Chironomids, Callibaetis, and Damsels can make for some epic dry fly fishing for fish that average  3 pounds plus, and  a good shot at seeing some really large fish over 6 pounds.  Give us a call for details on guided trips to these lakes, you won’t be sorry!
