The Big Hole

The Salmonflies have arrived, but water levels have recently increased as well - which means the fish will have a harder time seeing the bugs. Until the visibility gets a little more clear, those on the hunt for Salmonflies might be better off fishing Bear Trap Canyon of the Madison, or  heading them off at the pass near Ennis Lake.

The Big Hole is clear (in normal tea-colored fashion) and fish are taking streamers.  The Yellow Yummy was the best fly for us, the heavier the better.  The big fish seem to be below the faster water in the deepest buckets.  Get your sink tip or sinking line out and prepare to loose some flies!

The caddis are over (besides the random splashy rise here and there).  Nymphs and streamers will be the best now until Salmonflies.  When will they arrive?  Stay tuned to find out...
