The "MO"

                                                          Photo: Robert Kovich

The vortex clouds of tricos are going thick now.  You'll want to be on the water by 6:00am to catch the best part of the hatch.  Fish have been taking PMD spinners and trico spinners before noon.  The middle of the day has been slow but you can catch some fish on scuds and a mini san juan.  Some of the best fishing has been 1/2 hour before dark with caddis, so try to stay late if possible...

Recommended Tackle for dries and nymphs:
490 Z-axis, G.Loomis 9'#4 Streamdance Presentation, or Winston BIIX 5 weight. Ross Evolution 2, Lamson Litespeed 2 Scientific Angler's Trout taper line or Rio Selective Trout.

Recommended Tackle for steamer fishing: Winston 9'#7 BIIX, Loomis Native Run 9'#8 GLX, Redington 9'#8 CPS. Ross Evolution 3.5, Abel Super 7, Tibor Everglades, TFO 375. Scientific Angler's Streamer Express 250-300 grain, Rio Density Compensated 15 foot type 6 sink tip

Recommended Terminal Tackle for dries & nymphs:

George Anderson's Maxima Clear Butt 12 foot 6x hand tied leader with Segaur Grandmax fluorocarbon tippets. Depending on depth and water speed, hang two nymphs 3-6 feet below a medium sized thill indicator. This would also be a good opportunity to see if you like the balloon indicators.
