The Yellowstone It's official - the salmonflies are here. Fish from Emigrant to Loch Laven were gorged yesterday. They were still eating some caddis and yellow sallies for desert, but were puking up salmonfly nymphs. If you want to see (and fish) dries try 26 to Emigrant tomorrow. If you want to stay ahead of the hatch and fish nypmhs, float from Carbella down...

The Madison The Salmonflies are now past Varney and headed all the way up to Lyons. Some truely huge fish have been caught this week- including a 29 inch brown! (Nice work Eric). The lower Maddy has been on fire as well. It seems cooler night temperatures are keeping the big browns around a little longer this year. Plenty of 20"+ fish have been caught recently if you want to avoid the Salmonfly frenzy.

The Spring Creeks The PMD's on the creeks have taken off nicely. On 6/12 we had reports of seeing about 100 PMD dries, and today on 6/18 about 300 dries. This is great news for those who have rods. For those of you who don't, we've had several cancelations on all three creeks. Give us a call and we'll help you secure a rod during prime time. 406-222-7130

Local and Private Lakes Looking for a slam dunk? The private lakes in the area have been unbelievable! The callibaetis hatches are thick, the damsels are dancing, and the leeches & scuds are everywhere! A lot of BIG fish have been caught this week - quite possibly 20 over 20 inches! Give us a call to find out where the
hot spots are... 406-222-7130

The Bighorn Don't put your Baetis box away just yet - the Bighorn's dry fly fishing has been awesome! Plus, now that other rivers are clearing, the Horn has a lot more elbow room. This week particularly looks like good fishing due to higher CFS flows. Hopefully some clouds will move in for dry fly fishing, but if the sun is out switch to a SJW and pink sow bug dropper.

The Missouri As usual the MO is fishing well. PMD's have already started, so be sure to bring nymphs, emergers, duns, and spinners. Some of the best fishing has been later in the evening on caddis. If you can, spend the night so you can fish late into the evening without having to drive back in the dark. Some of my favorite patterns are the Hemingway and Henryville caddis (in a size 16).

The Big Hole The Big Hole had one of the best Salmonfly hatches ever this year. A lot of folks wanted to keep that under the table, but now it seems safe to let the cat out of the bag. I always hope for overcast days on the Big Hole and that the streamer bite is on. I think about every fish in that river has been caught on a yellow streamer, so throw something different at them.

Florida Tarpon This year started off pretty slow and not many fished moved in until mid April. Then they started showing up by the thousands! Now that they are in, a lot of fish are being caught. No reports of anything huge being landed this year, but George and his friends have landed plenty of 80-130 pound Tarpon. Some of the best fishing has been at sunrise. Give us a call if you are headed that way... 406-222-7130
