We have been impressed with these Legend Elite rods.  They have a nice soft tip but good butt and mid-section power.  These stack up with the very best rods out there but the price is in the mid $400 range, $200-$300 lower than the expensive rods.  But when we look closely a the Legend Elite rods, we're impressed with the quality of craftsmanship, Everything from the high quality cork grips to perfect wraps and an excellent finish coat of epoxy make for a very nice looking rod.   But the real story is how well they perform.  They are very light in weight and are some of the smoothest casting rods we've found. These rods compare favorably to the very best out there at a very reasonable price. 

These new Imperial rods from St. Croix are impressive. They blow away the competition for coming up with an inexpensive rod that looks great and casts like the far, far more expensive rods. These burgundy colored rods utilize their SC4 high modulus and SC11 premium graphite to come up with a light, fast action rod with a nice soft tip.   We were all impressed after a casting session on the lawn comparing the Imperial rods to some of the best rods on the market.  The craftsmanship is excellent considering their low price.   These Imperial rods are hands down the best value in fly rods we've seen in some time.   Big bang for the bucks.
