Sage VXP

!

The original XP just got lighter, more responsive 7 less espensive!

That's right XP fans, time to rejoice!  Sage took the exact taper and action of the original blanks, but improved its performace by making them lighter, smoother, and more responsive.  The new VXP is a great nymph fishing rod and also will handle streamers and a sinking line with ease.  It can throw very long casts as well, carrying 50 to 60 feet in the air.  The best part is even though they are now better, the price has gone down due to a very slight downgrade in components.  If you miss your old XP, this is your rod!

TCX Fly Rods

!
Sage's New Ultra-fast action performance rods
These new TCX rods are strong, powerful rods right at the upper limit of stiffness for each line class. Some anglers will want to go up one line size to get these rods to perform better at short to medium distances.  The TCX rods are a nice step up from the old TCR rods, using new generation 5 technology to give us very powerful rods that are very light in weight. These rods are great tools for skilled casters and they re-define extreme distance with very high line speed.  Firing tight loops at long distances seems easy, even into a strong wind.  They also have plenty of power to chuck big streamers or multiple nymphs with a lot of lead.    The color is an attractive Olive/Lime. The 4,5 and 6-weight rods come with beautiful wood seats and uplocking nickel silver hardware.  The larger rods, from size 7 up come with a brownish gold annodized seat ideal for saltwater use, along with a short extension butt.

"99" Fly Rods

!
Sage 9'9" Nymph and Float Tube Rods
A day of multi-bug rigs, wind-resistant indicators and the requisite high-stick rod position can be enough to make your arm fall off before lunch. But the fact is, there simply isn’t a more reliable, effective technique for finding big fish. Which is why we created the 99.

Built with the same advanced G5 Technology as our Z-Axis rods, the most obvious nymph-specific feature of the 99 is its namesake 9-foot, 9-inch length, which makes short work of long, drag-free drifts. But that’s just the beginning. The 99’s unique taper loads lower on the blank to generate open loops, helping avoid tangles with multiple fly and indicator rigs. At the same time, a stiffer tip section handles heavy payload delivery but retains the sensitivity needed to detect subtle takes.

The 99s also feature slightly oversized guides specifically placed to make stack mending, shake-out and line feeding easier. Put it all together and you have a light, perfectly balanced rod that casts like a 9-footer but fishes like a 10. High-Stickers rejoice!

ZXL Fly Rods

Smooth, light rods for delicate presentatons
The new ZXL rods are significantly lighter, stronger and easier to cast for everyone who enjoys the relaxed casting rhythm of a smooth progressive taper. Through the miracle of our G5 process, we were able to remove every gram of unnecessary material from each blank and replace traditional glass hoop fibers with lighter, more responsive graphite.  These are wonderful rods for smaller streams, spring creeks, and tailwaters where accuracy and delicate presentations are the rule.  A great replacement for the SLT rods. The 9 foot #4 was especially outstanding.

Xi 3 Rods

!
The New Saltwater Standard From Sage
This saltwater fast action rod storms the beach in 2010 for Sage. Sage uses their exclusive SaltH20 technology for superior tracking and lerss wasted energy in the casting stroke. SaltH20 also creates a rod with extreme strength to fight large fast running fish. You can get your Permit to the boat in a safe amount of time and still not worry about a broken rod in the process. One of the first things noticeable when picking these rods up is the brilliant color scheme. The pacific-blue shaft and electra blue trim wraps/ cobalt blue primary wraps really are impressive and still maintain the traditional Sage look. All models have saltwater safe black anodized reel seats, cork and EVA fishting butt, easy-grip, heavy-knurled lock rings, and full wells cork-grips. A lifetime warranty is also included.

TXL-F Fly Rods

!
Wonderful, light weight rods ideal on smaller water!

Sage has re-designed these popular small stream rods, using lighter ferrules and making all of them 4-piece rods.  These are delightful, amazingly light weight fly rods, built with Generation 5 Technology.  These are the finest rods we've found for fishing smaller, tighter streams.  If you are a small stream fanatic, you'll love these TXL-F rods. These rods make very delicate presentations at shorter distances easy, especially when you are fishing small flies and fine tippets.  With good butt and mid-section power, they have the capability to cast longer distances too, and it surprised us how well they worked on bigger water, especially for anglers that love to fish small flies with 6x-8X tippets.  Our favorites for Western fishing are the #2, #3, and #4 line sizes, especially when you have to contend with strong wind.   On a calm days though, the "ought series" rods are a ton of fun.

Sage Two-Handed Rods

!

Cover big water with ease with these light rods

Sage's newly designed Z-Axis two handed rods are now using the generation 5 graphite technology giving us stronger and more powerful rods with a minimum of weight. The Z-Axis models promote enhanced line feel for greater ease and efficency in both modern and traditional casting styles.  These various models are some of the very best we've found, and with their four piece configuration make them easy to hand carry these onto the plane with you.

Sage Bass Fly Rods

Good for bass but also great for chucking big streamers for trout!

After working with a small, tight-lipped group of serious bass anglers, Sage has  developed two new rods that can drop a hair frog or an air-light diver with pinpoint accuracy and hardly a ripple on the water. From a fly fishing perspective, we’re talking about effortlessly pushing big, wind-resistant bugs into tight quarters. Available in two models, Smallmouth and Largemouth, both rods measure 7'11", which slides them just under the strict bass tournament rules for rod length. Additionally, both rods are sold with custom bass taper flylines and a travel case for protection.   Our take is that these will also make dynamite rods with "chuck and duck" lines for throwing big, heavy streamers, especially out of a drift boat.  You'll like the price too!
