After more than two years of design, development and testing, we are pleased to introduce the F1TM - a large arbor series that is destined to revolutionize modern fly reel design. The F1 is a complete departure from conventional thinking and incorporates the most innovative features found in any fly reel. Inspired by Formula 1 race car brake systems, the F1 is an integration of carbon fiber and stainless steel; utilizing eight independent contact points to produce the smoothest and most dependable drag system on the market today. Two square inches of carbon fiber drag surface results in unsurpassed stopping power and heat dissipation. The spool fits on a carbon fiber stabilizer with two fully sealed stainless steel ball bearings that provide precision fit and smooth rotation. The F1 employs a Ross original clutch bearing that is fully sealed and enables retrieve conversion without removing the bearing- an industry first! The extensive use of carbon fiber in the drag system, spool stabilizer, handle and spool release produce system strength and rigidity, while at the same time reducing overall weight. Ten separate o-rings completely seal the system, making it totally impervious to the drag-changing effects of water. The F1 employs a constant-torque drag knob with a 56:1 mechanical advantage; resulting in uniform drag knob rotation and infinite drag adjustment.

New carbon fiber technology developed with the Kestrel bike company has allowed Ross to build a saltwater reel with a totally sealed, smooth and extremely strong drag.  You'll like the meticulous machining and ergonomic design.  This will handle any test you throw at it - fast running bonefish to big tarpon, sailfish and even marlin.  The lubricated bronze bushing and stainless steel arbor design is one of the most reliable ever!   No ball bearings to rust and jam up.   One of the few saltwater reels that has easily interchangeable spools. 

The Vexsis fly reel series is loaded with modern Ross technology and innovative engineering. The drag system is based on the Momentum's Carbon Fiber design, but they have modified the drag system by adding in ceramic to enhance the overall performance. The Vexsis drag system is a very powerful push type system that utilizes a Carbon Fiber/Rulon/Ceramic/Aluminum stack-up to maximize the benefits of each of these materials. Consistency, strength, heat resistance, shock-dampening capabilities and infinite fatigue resistance are all properties of Carbon Fiber that benefit this system. The addition of Ceramic promotes strength in the overall design by providing an incompressible surface that is highly heat resistant. By combining these elements together in the correct sequence, you end up with a perfect fly reel braking system!

The Airius is a high-end, hybrid large arbor fly reel that defines excellence in both performance and cosmetic artistry. The multilevel disc drag system is incredibly smooth, and there is no shortage of stopping power in this modern Ross design. In honor of our 35th anniversary, we have brought back a spindle support shaft that is reminiscent of a design from our industry favorite Gunnison series. This large diameter shaft provides incredible stability, and is manufactured out of stainless steel that is strong, incredibly light & saltwater safe. The spoke designed frame and extensive spool ventilation adds to this series lightweight feel, yet the Airius is built to endure a lifetime of flawless performance. Each reel in this series is designed with a unique diameter and width to maximize the properties of drag consistency & quick line retrieval. The Airius has been fitted with a new quick-switch retrieve conversion that makes changing the direction of retrieve as easy as flipping on a light. The reel is also equipped with our newest drag knob design that delivers smooth rotation, infinite adjustments and secure settings.

We still remember when James Anderson  picked this reel up for the first time. A look of amazement crossed his face.  One small flick of the reel handle and the spool spun for what seemed like a day and a half.  Never had either of us seen bearings this smooth on a reel at this price!  Since that point it has brought smiles to numerous customers.   A tough, good looking mid-arbor reel at a great price.
