Hot New ProductsSimms G3 Waderscontinued from Hot New Products
Simms came out with the G3 Guide Wader last year and touted it as an improved version of the Classic Guide Wader. I was skeptical and thought it had to be a marketing scheme. After all how do you REALLY improve such a great piece of gear? Well, I’ve been wearing the G3 waders for several months now and can tell you they REALLY are better. There are several design improvements that have taken the G3 Guide Waders to the next level. Both the 5 layer Gore- Tex outer material (protects the front of the wader from the knee down) and the 3 layer Gore-Tex outer material (protects backside of legs and butt) have been enhanced making the waders as much as 20% more abrasion resistant. We use the Classic Guide waders in our rental program and almost all the pinhole leaks are in the seat and backside of the wader. The new enhanced 3 layer Gore-Tex material not only covers more of the wader (most importantly the seat) but really is tougher and will cut back on the number of pinhole leaks. The built in Schoeller Gravel Guards are a big improvement over the Velcro wrap gravel guards. The Schoeller Gravel Guards are much lighter and much less bulky and they DON’T COME OFF! I am always shocked at how many Velcro wrap gravel guards we sell every year…really if you only knew the number…it’s huge and that’s because the damned things don’t stay on…the days of huge Velcro wrap gravel guard sales are over. The handwarmer pocket is a nice touch. The Flip Out Tippet Tender Pocket is something you will either love or hate. I’m not a big fan of this thing but just the other day I was giving the sales pitch to a buddy while we were floating the lower Madison and when he saw the tippet pocket he thought it was the coolest thing. The articulated knees have also been re-designed making these the most comfortable waders on the market. It might not seem like a big deal but after you wear the new G3s for a few days you’ll realize this improved design really does improve fit. The Simms Blackfoot neoprene feet with a right/left foot design makes your feet happy too. Most of you already have a pair of the Classic Guide Waders. You love them, maybe more than you should (maybe all those pinhole leaks really aren’t pinhole leaks). You tell all your friends they are the greatest piece of fishing gear you own. I know you plan on buying another pair but I’m here to tell you don’t be afraid to take the next step up the stairway to heaven…BUY the Simms G3 Wader. Simms G3 waders are $425 for standard sizes, a little more for not so common sizes. Give us a call and we will be happy to help fit you. Make sure you know shoe size, waist, chest and inseam measurements for the best fit. In most cases, we can replace new waders with a different size if necessary.
