          Alaska's Enchanted Lake Lodge

If you like catching big rainbow trout, like the one above, there is nowhere like Alaska's Bristol Bay area and Enchanted Lake Lodge!  We'll fish streams and rivers every day where you'll often have a chance to catch fish like this on your next cast! A short 10 to 15 minute flight in a Beaver float plane puts us into the very finest rainbow fishing the Iliamna/Katmai area has to offer. We'll hike to fish some streams, utilize jet boats and rafts to run and float the larger rivers. Combine the red hot fishing for big rainbows like this with the spectacular accommodations at Enchanted Lake Lodge, and it adds up to one of the most enjoyable and exciting fishing trips we've ever done. Enchanted Lake Lodge has the well earned reputation as being the finest fly fishing lodge for rainbow trout in all of Alaska. The superbly remodeled main lodge sits high atop a  hill overlooking Enchanted Lake and Nonvianuk Lake.  The view from the dining room is stunning with the Alaska range as a backdrop.  Gourmet cuisine, great guides, and a wonderful staff under the direction of manager Daren Erickson all combine to make this the Alaskan wilderness experience of a lifetime!

I hope that you can join me on this exciting trip to the finest fly out lodge in Alaska! Our week will be limited to 12 anglers. Follow this link for all the details of our trip and lots more photos....

Casa Blanca Lodge

Ascension Bay in Mexico's Yucatan

November 24 - December 1, 2007

with George Anderson and James Anderson

Join us for great week of late fall fishing between

                      Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Join George Anderson, his son James and friends for an exciting week of fly fishing the flats of Ascension Bay, two hundred miles to the South of Cancun.

We'll fly to Cancun the Saturday after Thanksgiving and have an opportunity to get in a great week of fishing for bonefish, permit, tarpon, and snook  and be back by December 1st.

Since this is an "early season" trip Casa Blanca Lodge is offering us a huge 25% discount over their prime time rate. For our November trip, the rate will be only $2875.00 plus their $400 RT air charter fee from Cancun (everyone pays this) for a total of $3225.00 per person.

On past late fall trips we have had pretty good weather and excellent fishing.  We will be going well past hurricane season, but since Casa Blanca is closed during August and September, we will be one of the first groups in there in the fall when the fish are easy to catch.   On my first November trip to Casa Blanca a few years ago I caught a Grand Slam, and my boat partner Bill Hart very nearly did the same- we had each caught a permit that day, the toughest part of any Grand Slam.

Casa Blanca Lodge has always been one of my favorite Caribbean destinations and we've done several trips here over the years.    Everyone that has been to Casa Blanca rates it as one of the top 5 lodges in the Caribbean and I'd agree with my friend Lefty Kreh, when he says that Casa Blanca is the best place in the world to catch a Grand Slam - a Bonefish, Tarpon and Permit in the same day, on fly. In fact a Super Grand Slam is totally possible since there are good opportunities for snook there also.

In Ascension Bay there are endless bonefish and permit flats to fish, with plenty of baby tarpon up to 50 pounds or more to keep it interesting.  I've also had very good sight fishing for snook at Casa Blanca along some of the mangrove islands on the South side of the bay.  Big jack crevalle and big barracudas are also common on the flats and these fish add to the fun and the variety of fish that we can catch each day.

A terrific group of experienced guides, many with 10-15 years or more of guiding experience insure that everyone will have a great guide.  Casa Blanca was one of the first lodges to obtain and use classy flats skiffs like the Dolphin Super Skiffs, made in Miami.  These skiffs with clean casting decks and poling platforms make flats fishing a real pleasure.  You can run fast in a foot of chop without fusing your vertebra, yet they will run shallow enough to pole in seven inches of water.   Add new, super quiet four stroke Yamaha 40 and 50 hp motors and you have the ultimate in flats skiffs.

The variety is outstanding and you'll find it hard to quit and come back to the lodge were it not for the fact that some great Margaritas and guacamole await us.   The accommodations are superb making this one of the best fishing lodges I've been to take your wife along.  Even if she doesn't fish every day there are lots of things to do like snorkeling, bicycling, visiting the Mayan ruins or just kicking back in the shade of a palm tree with a good book.

George's Argentina Adventure 2008

Jamie's Argentina Adventure 2008

January 1-17th, 2009

Join George Anderson for Two weeks in Patagonia, eleven days of fishing, two-three day float trips, six to ten pound browns and rainbows, fine Malbec red wine and the best steaks you've had in your life!

This year I'm doing an expanded trip to Argentina's Patagonia, fishing our favorite places in the past but also adding a three day float trip on the Limay, a big river to the North of Bariloche that drains much of the famous trout water and holds some of the largest native brown trout in Argentina.  My son James checked this big river out last winter and they caught three browns that were over nine pounds in three days and caught endless numbers of nice rainbows.  The "dinks" here were pushing 20 inches!

We'll fly into Buenos Aires, spend one night there and kick off the trip with a stop at the best steakhouse in all of BA, then fly to Bariloche in the heart of Patagonia to start our fishing adventure.   We'll start out on the famous Rivadavia, a beautiful river that flows between two lakes -with big browns and rainbows.  Next up will be a float trip on the Chubut river, where we'll float over fifty miles in three days, catch hundreds of fat rainbows each day and see absolutely no one.   Well, maybe one or two gauchos on this huge, private estancia where Esquel Outfitters have an exclusive on the fishing.  Our tent camps are deluxe.  One guide goes ahead of the anglers to set up the tent camp.  We'll have hot water showers, comfortable cots and beds, and of course more of those wonderful grass-fed beef steaks cooked over an open fire.

Then it's off to estancia La Elvira for some great small stream fishing on the Gualjaina river and the famous Arroyo Pescado spring creek complex.   The last time there Jeff Carder and I slammed some five and six pound browns and rainbows and everyone caught so many 18-20 inch trout that it almost got boring.   Hiking miles of the Gualjaina was a lot of fun and there are enough big browns and rainbows to keep things interesting.   The highlight of our stay at La Elvira was the Asado one evening, where our host slow roasted a whole lamb for us, served with more vintage Malbec wine.

From La Elvira we head south for two days of fishing in the Rio Pico area, a couple of hundred miles to the south.   There we'll fish the fabulous Lago #3, for huge browns and rainbows, and the Rio Pico river and its tributaries, including a challenging spring creek that is full of huge fish.

Leaving Rio Pico we'll drive back up to Bariloche, spend the night there at a nice hotel in this alpine ski town and pig out at another famous steak house.  And NO, you won't be tired of the best steaks in the world just yet! Then early the next morning we are off for our three day float on the Limay.  We'll wrap up the trip there with lots of 18-20 inch rainbows and some HUGE browns, where everyone has a very good chance at a double digit brown of a lifetime.  By now you should be fished out, and you'll be feeling the need to knock off a few of the pounds you've gained, but you've had the time of your life!

Fly Fishing in Argentina's Patagonia

"No time to de-slime"

February 6 - 22, 2009

with James Anderson

Read Jamie's report from our 2008 trip

If you love fly fishing, January and February are wonderful months escape the harsh wind and cold of winter.  It's the perfect time to head south - way south to Argentina's Patagonia!   An overnight, ten-hour fight from Atlanta flip flops the seasons, turning winter into summer as we land in Buenos Aires and catch a flight to Bariloche, one of Argentina's premier fishing and skiing destinations located on the edge of the Andes.

On these trips we'll fish eight days, and the total trip including travel will be twelve days.   We'll be fishing the Esquel region of Patagonia, ranging as far south as Rio Pico.   We'll see a lot of Patagonia, and experience some of its best fishing, from big rivers to spring creeks and meadow streams.  We'll even fish a lake where we've caught some monster rainbows and browns on past trips.

We'll start our angling adventure in Bariloche, driving south along the awe inspiring backbone of the Andes to Cholila, the Argentine hangout for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  There we'll stay at the comfortable El Trebol Lodge.   In the next eight days we will see and experience some of the best trout fishing central Patagonia has to offer.

We have done this trip for the past ten years, and one of the reasons it is one of our favorite trips are the Outfitters and guides that run the operation.  Not only are they wonderful guides, they speak excellent English.  They are the hardest working fellows I've ever been associated with, and go to great lengths to make sure that everything comes together perfectly.

We'll start our fishing on the beautiful River Rivadavia, close to Cholila. Then it's on to the Chubut River, where we'll float fifty miles in three days through a huge private Estancia, camping out for two nights on the river.  In past years we've had out arms worn out catching as many as a hundred 16-22 inch trout each day - PER PERSON!

After the Chubut, we're off to another spectacular Estancia called La Elvira, where we'll fish exclusive, private water on the Gualjaina River.  The following day we'll fish the famous Arroyo Pescado, one of Patagonia's top spring creeks, that is loaded with 18-25 inch rainbows and browns.

To cap off our trip we will drive another four hours south to the Rio Pico region to fish the famous Lago #3, a lake where we'll catch some huge rainbows and browns, many in the 24-28 inch class.  On our final day we'll fish the Rio Pico river and spring creek for more huge rainbows and browns.   Two years ago George landed a 29 inch brown in the spring creek there.  I can't wait to get back!

For those who are only fishing 8 days, you'll fly out of Esquel (eliminating 4 or 5 hour drive back to Bariloche).  For those are are "in" on the Limay, we'll drive to Bariloche and spend the night before driving north for three more days of floating, camping, and big fish.
