The Stone is still fishing really well with the help of a good guide or a “fishy” fishing buddy.  With colder nights and chilly mornings, water temperatures have decreased significantly, (as low as 48° Friday morning) and have been rising to about 54° by the late afternoon.  The foam lines and foam eddies are looking great lately, with plenty of happy, rising fish.  Many patterns have been working well, although it seems like Carlson’s Purple Haze continues to be the hot fly in the bins.  You can also try a mix of drake parachutes, parawulffs, and cripple patterns.  Plenty of anglers are still fishing the chubby-rubbie combo (and for good reason).  The streamer bite has either been on or off depending on the day, water temp, clarity, and of course movement of the fly.  Dead drifting still seems to be better than the swing or strip overall.  Olive or black seem to have the edge over brighter colors right now but you never know what color the monster is going to take… Weather forecast looks great for the rest of the weekend and up into the 80’s next week!  Give us a call to book a trip.  406-222-7130.
