Tailwaters are the place to be right now...

There is a hazardous wind advisory around Livingston for the next few days.  A steady 44 mph southwest wind with gusts up to 60 make for better fly-tying than flailing.   If the wind does calm back down, midges have been the main hatch, with some healthy rainbows feeding on top.  The browns are still on their redds and won’t return to their winter holds until December.  If you’ve really got the itch to fish, consider a trip to the Bighorn or the Missouri.  True, it’s a long drive, but in general you’ll have a lot more consistent fishing.   Try a mix of streamers, baetis nymphs, midges, pseudos, scuds, and egg patterns.
