This winters mild weather continued this weekend in the Bighorn River Valley. With temperatures reaching the mid 40’s this weekend excellent fishing was had with streamers, nymphs and dry flies.  The streamer fishing continues to be productive as it has been all winter with white and olive streamers.  Midge emergence’s have been producing consistent dry fly fishing each day on the upper end of the river. Harrop Transitional Midges, Griffith’s Gnats and Parachute Adams have all been working well.  Nymphs as always have been productive.

Ray Charles, Firebead Ray Charles, Black Zebra Midges and Red Larva have been the ticket in the slower runs.  With the mild weather in Montana this winter we expect the fishing on the horn to only get better.  The midge hatches will continue to get better and eventually give way to abundant Blue Wing Olive hatches.  Stop in or call the shop for more info……
