Clarity today (5/13 6:30AM)
Some good news bad news. Good news is there are a lot more caddis this year than we saw last year (hundreds of thousands) so it seems as tho the caddis have recovered well from after the flood. Last weeks snow storm, while trapping people on Bozeman pass for over 12 hours, brought even more snow to the mountains. The Upper Yellowstone snow pack is now around 78%. Last Friday, when things started to heat up again the caddis were everywhere and people were enjoying catching fish on dries, although the fish definitely seemed a little gorged. The bad news is the Lamar looks is coming up steadily, and with the hot weather this week looks like the Yellowstone might be on the verge of full blown runoff. The spring creeks have been fishing well, look for baetis on the water around 10:00-2:00. The caddis have moved on from the Lower Madison now, the upper will be worth a try until it is also too muddy. If you are up for a drive the MO and Big Horn are also good options.
