A decent brown caught on the swing...
Expect strong winds this week...

Livingston is well known for it’s strong winter winds, and this December has been no different.  If the temperature is colder (say under 20), there’s usually less wind but as temperature reach into the high thirties and forties, you can almost always expect a stead 30-40mph wind and gusts over 50 mph.  Unfortunately the forecast for this week looks like 20-40% snow and 100% wind.  The good news is that most of the slush ice has cleared, only occasionally did some floating ice hit the back of my legs while wading.  There’s no way I’d want to have a boat out here, it would be a constant struggle to keep the boat from flipping much less putting your buddy on fish.  Best case scenario is to throw a two handed rod.  If you don’t have one, an 8 weight with a 300 grain is manageable but challenging to say the least.   Try to get the wind at your back and swing your streamers as slow as you can.  Any color streamer should work well as no one in their right mind is fishing right now…
