Yellowstone National Park is one of the most underrated places we fish. There’s a lot of water worth fishing within it’s 2.2 million acres – many of these places are hard to find and take seasons of scouting to figure out when and where they fish well. The best of these places are not easily accessible, your trout will definitely be earned. If you are in good heath and can hike 4-6 miles (round trip) and have a sense of adventure, we think Yellowstone National Park holds the greatest potential for an Epic day of fly fishing. Typically anglers experience more numbers than size. On average we are catching many 8-15 inch cutthroat, but occasionally a 20+ inch fish will be brought to the hand. 90% of our July and August wade trips are in the North and Northeastern section of the Park. Right now there are salmonflies and goldenstones ARE EXTREMELY THICK in the Park. We’re not going to hot spot anything on line, but if you are really nice to the guys behind the counter you might get pointed in the right direction.
