Usually we are fishing the Madison only this time of year, but the Yellowstone has been fishing well the last couple days.  If you want a shot at some fat lake run browns on giant salmonfly dries the upper Madison is still your spot.  Plan on seeing plenty of boats until the hatch has rolled past Lyons Bridge.  The Stone has been fishing with large chocolate caddis (#10-12), evening caddis (#16-18), Goldenstones, (#4-8), rubberlegs, (#6-8) and just about any streamer you like.  The valley up will be a better choice at these flows – town down is still flowing a little high and dangerous with not much chance for dry fly fishing.  Once flows drop to 6,000 CFS (@ carter’s bridge), town down should be fishing better. We did hear a report that the Lamar got rained on hard last night and was muddy today so you may want to keep on eye on the graphs the next couple of days.  As always, give us a call for the latest report.  406-222-7130.
