Our choice as the finest saltwater reels Tibor reels were first introduced in 1995 and since that time have increased in reputation and popularity year after year. Saltwater gurus Flip Pallot and Lefty Kreh joined forces with head designer Ted Juracsik to come up with a reel that we feel is the finest saltwater reel on the market today. We have personally used them hard for bonefish, permit and big tarpon, and have never had one fail in any way! The mid-arbor design greatly increases line retrieval rates, which is critical when fishing for speedsters like bonefish, permit, barracuda, tarpon and billfish. They have also been widely acclaimed by spey enthusiates for their capacity and overall balance on two-handed rods. These reels have produced 234 world records brought to hand by their owners! Probably the best part of this reel is the drag. It utilizes a cork surface against the annodized aluminum spool but has three small ball bearing detents inset into the drag disc. When a fish is running fast, the sound is as sweet as a BMW in-line 6 cylinder heading for the redline. You can fine tune the drag settings with a range far wider than other reels.
