The all new Meridian saltwater rods build on our award winning ReAct technology to bring you a series of saltwater rods that are remarkably light, and generate exceptional line speed and power.
Using increased recovery speed rather than stiffness to more efficiently transfer energy, Meridian rods help you quickly make accurate casts at any distance in demanding saltwater conditions. You’ll be amazed at how fast you can get the fly from your hand to the fish.
Meridian rods are fit with newly designed components that defy harsh saltwater environments. Scott designed a new reel seat milled from aircraft grade aluminum, featuring self-indexed slide hoods, extra deep knurling to easily turn lock rings with wet hands, type 3 mil-spec hard coat in non-reflective flat black, and line weight engravings for quick rod identification in boat racks
The new fighting butt shape and transitional check ring help to quickly shed line if it gets caught on the butt by reducing sharp angles that can trap line. Stripping guides feature SiC rings in full titanium frames and Recoil nickel titanium snake guides for low friction and corrosion free performance. These rods will truly last and perform in the salt even under the rigors of fishing year around. Scott focused on every detail so you could focus on the fish.
"I suspected these new Scott Rods would be a big hit at the show, and they were, winning the overall BEST OF SHOW award! Originally called Project S, I helped Jim tweak the final designs for these new rods, fishing the prototypes in Florida this spring, giving Jim my comments and then casting and fishing the final versions once the changes were made. The 8-weight was just terrific after Jim added a little more power in the butt and mid but leaving the softer tip as is. This rod feels just so crisp and powerful in my hand now, and the accuracy is superb. These new Meridian rods are very similar in action to Scott’s Radian freshwater series, which have proven to be outstanding. This new Meridian is on track to un-seat the Loomis NRX as the finest 8-weight rod in the world. We’ll find out later this fall in our next Yellowstone Angler 8-weight Shootout! I also fished the new two-piece 11-weight Meridian a lot, landing several 80-100 pound tarpon on this rod in the Keys in April. This is another rod that will do it all and the #11 weight should be the best all around tarpon rod in the line. Throwing 90-100 feet of line was a breeze, and it has all the power you’ll need in the butt to land those 100-pound tarpon in 10-15 minutes."
