A special thanks to Topher Brown for coming over to teach us some tricks of the trade this weekend. Aside from focusing on the two water based casts, (the C-Spey and Double Spey), on Sunday he also helped us with a couple “scandi style” touch and go casts – the single spey and snake roll. Everyone really enjoyed his teaching style and soaked up a lot of valuable information from the class. Thanks again Topher!
As far as the Yellowstone goes, the fishing is back to inconsistent again. We’ve had some big eats and a few big fish have been eating streamers and hoppers. We had some pretty tough reports from Saturday (lots of whitefish on beadhead nymphs), but pretty slow for bigger trout. Sunday, on the other hand, produced several nice fish, most were caught on stone flies nymphs and dries. We had another report of big 23-24 inch brown eating a hopper off a cliff wall in town. For streamers olive as still been a good color. Pretty soon we’ll start to see more browns running up stream as well as some white fish congregating in the valley.
