Rachael Nordby's Yellowstone brown... Photo: Paul Bloch

The Yellowstone has been difficult fishing the past few days, most likely a direct result from it being so bright lately.  It’s also been pretty windy, which always adds to the challenge of rowing and angling.  If you are throwing streamers on a brighter day we’ve had better luck with olive or black.  If you are lucky enough to get a cloudy today (tomorrow’s looking like the best chance) then any color streamer should be working.  We’ve seen some risers late night when the wind calms down, but for the most part they have been smaller fish.  Cross your fingers for cloud cover and less wind, otherwise you may have to break out the nymph box…

Leaves are still looking good out there...
Enjoy the weather while you can!
