The Clarity on the Yellowstone today is between 1.5 - 2 feet of vis

Surprisingly the Yellowstone is still hanging in there on clarity.  Today and tomorrow will likely be your best chances. The visibility is perfect for fishing streamers and going for a big brown.  We saw a few small fish rising yesterday, most likely eating caddis but the streamer bite was good enough to keep stripping.  If you do decided to head out be sure you have an experienced rower on the oars, there are some big hydraulics and waves out there despite the CFS flowing around 6,980, (which is quite low for May 26th).  Although we don’t have a ton of snow pack, the good news is that the snow we have is coming out of the mountains slowly and is putting us on track for a mid to late June clearing.  This should be about perfect as we’ll get to fish Salmonflies, Goldenstones, and Yellow Sallies and still have plenty of water for the rest of the summer.  As soon as the Yellowstone blows again we’ll be headed back to the Spring Creeks, the Madison, the MO, and private lakes.  Give us a call to book a trip.  406-222-7130.

Be careful if you float through town or down low, flows are up and pushy...
