Sar Dougherty with a streamer eater... Photo: Brian Sienkowski

The river is shaping up nicely with about 2-3 feet of visibility, perfect clarity for a big brown.  We are finally into streamer season here on the Yellowstone.  Dries are still working in the foam eddies (or wherever you see rising fish) but you might as well pound the banks while you are in between spots.  Stopping to swing tailouts is a good idea and don’t rule out skinny side channels that normally don’t hold fish in the summer.  The fall foliage is looking great out there and with sunny weather coming up this weekend/early next week the Yellowstone will be a pleasant place to be looking for the one.
