Like it or not, winter fishing is here to stay. The shelf ice and floating chunks now make it unsafe to float the Yellowstone. Wading is still an option, but even that can be dangerous so watch your step. The best boots this time of year are rubber soles with studs, as they are much less slippery on the ice and also the snow doesn’t build up under your foot like with felt soles. If you don’t have a pair of boots like these stop by the shop, or at least treat yourself to a new set of studs. The last thing you want to do is take a digger when it’s one degree outside.
