David Cory and Outfitter Bob Bergquist with a beefy Yellowstone brown
Miguel Cory with a solid brown to complete his Yellowstone grand slam - Brown, Rainbow, Cutbow, Cutthroat, and of course the Rocky Mountain whitefish!

Cooler weather and clouds have been great for the fishing on the Yellowstone.  Not only are there more baetis and drakes on the water but the streamer fishing has also gotten A LOT better than last week.  As with everything this year, it seemed like we were about 3 weeks behind, but finally we are into streamer mode again on the stone.  Since the river is so clear, more natural patterns have been working better.  Instead of white or yellow, think tan and olive.  You can still have a bright point fly if you want, but streamers like the Home Invader in Tan Dace or Grizzly Olive are easy enough to see (and the fish like them too)!  For dropper streamers it is hard to beat any of our leadeye buggers, especially in black or multicolored olive.  The rest of this weekend is calling for clouds, a bit of rain, and not much wind – so get out there and catch that monster brown!
