The Echo Lift is truly a fantastic 3-weight for the money. It outperformed many rods, many that were 7-9 times more expensive!  While the Echo Lift wasn't the lightest rod, its 7'6" length makes it feel light enough. While you're not getting the same great feel as the very best rods, the Lift impressive put the yarn on the plate at all distances. And from past experience, we know these rods are tough.

If you take a look at the Lift's deflection, (the blue line near the Hardy Ultralite 7'6"), you will see it nestles nicely in the middle of the pack. And that's pretty much how it casts, pretty darn solid at all the distances...  

We matched the Echo lift with the least expensive option of our favorite inexpensive 3-weight reels - the Lamson Liquid S -3+. While the Liquid isn't fully machined, (it's frame and spool are pressure molded), the sealed conical drag is machined. The Liquid has proven itself as it is one of our favorite inexpensive 5-weight reels as well, passing the test of time with ease. And if you are targeting larger trout, the Liquid's wide range of adjustable drag will help you land the lunker. We are partial to the dark navy "Daybreak" color way on the lift, but the "Smoke" looks good on the Lift as well.
