Winston should be very proud of their Pure 2 series, and the 7'9"#3 just may be their crown jewel. Our entire staff loves this rod and how well it performs, especially at closer distances where you'd expect a 3-weight to cast best. Match the glorious Zen-like action with incredible craftsmanship, their stunning green blank and attractive reel seat and you have a winner, (and likely a rod your friends will want to cast).

If you look at the Winston's rod reflection, it has a slightly stiffer tip than the Scott G (with a slightly softer mid-section) but it is still similar to the Scott. If you are looking for a buttery smooth action with great feel we think you'll love the Pure 2's smooth action, only at 40 feet did performance fall off, and even so, not much.

We added our favorite inexpensive 3-weight reel, the Orvis Battenkill Click II to the package. We are partial to the silver color option, but the bronze looks great as well. This reel is fully machined and utilizes a click a pawl drag. The classic style fits well on a 3-weight fly rod, and since you'll be targeting smaller fish, you won't need a strong drag.  If you want to put more pressure on the fish, simply palming the reel works quite efficiently. 

Of course, if you prefer a different reel with a stronger drag or perhaps one at a higher price point, we are happy to work with you on a custom package with similar savings.
