If you are looking to float the Yellowstone and fish with big salmonfly dries, the next couple days will be your last chance.  Most of the bugs have headed into the Park, however there are still a few “stragglers” holding behind between Gardiner and Joe Brown.  The fish in this section are smaller in general, but the numbers definitely make up for the loss of size.  For bigger fish the valley has been fishing very well, as is town and below.  The Shield’s river is back into shape if you are looking for hog Johnson, just be aware that you may only land one or two big fish down there – and depending on skill levels – a “goose egg” or “skunk” is even possible.  Our recommendation for the very best dry fly fishing right now is in Yellowstone National Park, however you’ll have to “hike and strike” to get them.  If you are looking to float we have several fantastic options for you, depending on what you’re looking for…
