Paradise Valley Spring Creek Fishing Report

Early morning glass at DePuy's

PMD's are finally going in full force on the creeks. The emergence usually starts around 10:00/10:30 and lasts until around 2:00/3:00PM depending on the day. The spinner fall will be later in the evenings, but could be hampered by the wind and the rain.

If you don't see much activity on the surface, try nymphing with split back PMD nymphs, sow bugs, scuds, and midge larva patterns. Once you start seeing PMD dries you can switch to a dry dropper, with a PMD emerger pattern.  Once you start to see a lot of dries you might cut off your dropper and go with a single PMD dry. Towards the end of the hatch you might add a light scud or midge larva as a dropper again.

Fishing with 6 or 6.5X has been the best, which means bring along a softer 5 weight, or if you have one, or even better bring a 3-weight or 4-weight fly rod.

Other handy items to bring along:

Most the rainbows done spawning, but still be careful where you tread and try to avoid walking on the redds.
