Yellowstone National Park Fishing Report

Now that we are past Memorial day, the main YNP waters are now open! We sell Park Licenses at the shop, or you may also purchase a YNP fishing license online here.
The rivers on the North East side of the Park, (the Gardner, Larma, Soda Butte, Hellroaring, and Slough Creek) are most likely going to be muddy until at least early to mid-June. Slough Creek clears up earlier than the rest of these, and this year will be an early clear so keep an eye on it.
In the meantime, the Firehole is where we have been taking most trips. Hatches include baetis, PMD's, and white miller caddis. The Baetis have been around, but the PMD's and Miller caddis are just now starting. Sometimes in these early stages, it can be harder to get fish to eat the dry, so be sure to bring along some PMD and Miller caddis nymphs and emerger patterns. Swinging soft hackles has also been productive.
