Yellowstone National Park Fishing Report

Effective (8/13) the Hootowl has been lifted due to cooling weather and water temperatures in the Park. (The Firehole, Madison, and Gibbon still remain closed).
We've had rains in the Park nearly every evening for a few days now, which has been making some of the streams like the Lamar and even Soda Butte dirty. Depending on the size of the storm, this has been super muddy to just off color.
In general the Park has been a little tougher than this summer. We've seen a transition from the classic hatches like Drakes, PMDs, and stoneflies to terrestrials like hoppers, ants, and beetles. Smaller tungsten bead nymphs (as well as beadless nymphs) have also been taking fish subsurface, especially in the deeper runs.
