Yellowstone River Fishing Report
CFS: 7,000
Clarity above Carter's (Monday, 6/15 at 6:48 AM)
CFS has been on the steady drop lately and as a result, the Yellowstone is "ON-ON!" With that perfect "green-is-good"clarity people have been catching quite a few nice fish. We have reports of thick sallies down low (below 89). No Salmonfly dries have been reported, however angler have still been catching fish with salmonfly dries. If you are looking to fish the salmonflies anywhere from Emigrant to Loch Leven is where they should show up first. At least for now salmonfly nymphs, bugger legs, rubber legs, big prince nymphs, spankers, and sally nymphs have been the ticket.
Streamers can be a good way to go as well. Typically you won't catch as many fish with this method as dead drifting big nymphs, but the ones you do catch will be quality.
*Keep in mind Grey Bear access is closed as they are working on a new parking lot. 89 bridge is open - however you can't access it driving east from Livingston on I-90. Instead, you'll have to drive past it, exit a Mission Creek, do a u-turn and drive west on I-90 exiting at 89 North. (The reason for this is they are working on the bridge that goes over I-90).
