Those who have been fishing the Stone lately have definitely been battling the elements; wind, snow, mud… It’s been difficult fishing but also rewarding in terms of quality fish. Streamers have been about the only method to bring in these beasts, although some pretty nice (16-20″) fish have been caught on nymphs. Dry fly fishing has been out for a few days with the clarity, however we should have some decent baetis fishing again once this plug flows through. Today we are sending trips to the upper Valley, which is a good green 1-2 feet of visibility – that same clarity will be in town tomorrow. Bright or black seems to be the most effective right now, perhaps by Sunday clarity will be ready for olive again…
