The fishing on the Yellowstone has picked up quite a bit this week. Most likely due to the drop in water temps and also less fishing pressure. With less boat traffic on the river the fish are feeling more aggressive and less fastidious. Yesterday’s short Gardiner plug has already dissipated and the river is fishing from head to toe. Hopper dropper or chub/rub have been the main methods of attack, although streamers are finally becoming more effective. As far as may flies go we’ve been fishing Purple Haze parachutes for a while now with solid success and we have already spotted a few Hecuba drakes (#10-12) on the water. Better get out there while the fishing is hot! As always feel free to give us a call for the latest report or to book a last minute guide trip. 406-222-7130.
