Why the Chubby is still working...

Aside from a few productive rainy days, the dry fly game has still been one of the most productive method’s for catching trout on the Yellowstone lately.  Hopper have been working but not as well as Fall drakes, chubbies, caddis, and attractor dries like H&L Variants, Purple Para Wulffs, Lime Trudes, ect.  Clarity on the Yellowstone is back to normal.  Two days ago the river fished excellent.   Yesterday was a bit slow, which means today should fish well again.  There’s still a lot of water in the river (3,750) which means some of the classic Fall runs still have a ways to go before they are swingable.  Look for browns in the shallows or the tail outs…
