We’ve actually had some good dry fly fishing the past few days. Low hanging clouds and no wind have been the main contributing factors. The midges above (near Mallard’s Rest) starting coming off thick around 10:30 or 11:00AM. The active fish were holding in slow deep tailouts, soft, slow edges, eddies, and near slow flowing rip-rap banks. Fishing a midge cluster is a good way to go right now, such as a hi-vis Griffith’s Gnat or a Grizzly Cluster. Might as well fish a dropper fly, this can be another dry such as one of Harrop’s hanging midges, a midge emerger, or a zebra midge nymph.
