Holden and Jeff Lake with a big Yellowstone brown!

The Yellowstone has dropped significantly and has been fishing well! A few of the fish getting caught look like they have swam through a marathon (without a ton of food) but others have been healthy and still look fat. People have been fishing mostly under a bobber, although we are starting to see some fish rise here and there. Guides are already starting to fish hoppers and stones, especially on dry / dropper rigs. Give us a call for the the latest report or to book a trip! 406-222-7130.

There continue to be be some sketchy spots on the Yellowstone. One of those spots is below old 26 on the river right. There is a large whirlpool that has been giving a lot of people trouble lately. Unfortunately it is now too low to skirt to the river left to fully avoid it. We recommend skipping this section for now, (Point of Rocks to Emigrant) – hopefully at less CFS this will become less dangerous. Pine to Carter’s is still pretty gnarly as well, please make sure you have a raft or are with a very competent rower in this section. Mayor’s to Sheep remains closed until further notice while they work on getting the old railroad tracks out of the river.

Clint and Holden, at it again!
Dropping smoothly, hopefully soon some of the “problem” areas on the river will be less scary…
