Legs, eggs, streamers, and midges... Photo: Josh Edwards

Looks like we have some weather moving in this week.  While we welcome the clouds, the drop in water temperature could affect the streamer bite negatively.  Also it looks like we’ll have some wind, (of course, that’s nothing new).  Still, now is a good time to go out and try for a big brown.  Black continues to be the most consistent color for streamers.  If you are looking to match the hatch, midges are still your key players.  Black midge larva have been the most abundant, look for them in the foam lines and eddies.  We’ve seen a few Spring Baetis on warmer days, but nothing to write home about.  If you are in the mood to nymph, rubberlegs have been working well.  As always, feel free to give us a call for a wind report.  406-222-7130.
