The Yellowstone is still cold and windy but at least there are some clouds in the forecast for this weekend. With a steady 40 mph wind and gusts up to 60 you can forget about floating. Your best option is to start early and wade fish with a two handed rod. Stripping streamers on a sinking line is one way to fish. Go with smaller more subtle streamers like olive or black. With colder water temperatures it seems like dead drifting or nymphing is a better way to go. Rubber legs and eggs will do the trick. If by some miracle the “w” does calm down you might have a shot at throwing some midge dries or emergers. Except for the creeks, baetis are pretty much done for the winter over here…
